The Phi Beta Kappa Society, founded in 1776, recognizes the highest level of scholarship and is the most prestigious and oldest academic national honors society in the United States. Approximately 5% of the UCLA senior class is elected annually to Phi Beta Kappa. Visit the UCLA Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa web site for information regarding the chapter.
MEMBERSHIP
Students do not apply for membership in The Phi Beta Kappa Society. The Council of the UCLA Chapter, comprised of distinguished faculty and senior administrative officers, evaluate all student transcripts that meet the academic criteria, and then choose the students to elect to Phi Beta Kappa.
Those elected in the Spring will receive an invitation via MyUCLA in late April.
Reservations will only be accepted from students who have paid their membership fee through the The Phi Beta Kappa Society web site.
For those students who do not have access to the MyUCLA Commencement – Student feature, please contact Phi Beta Kappa at PBK@college.ucla.edu or (310) 825-4112 with any questions.
