Ticketing

Starting on Friday, May 12, students may order their College Commencement tickets as well as their departmental ceremony tickets via the Commencement Feature on MyUCLA. (You can order your College Commencement tickets even if you missed the preference or “request” period that was from May 4 to 7.). Please read below for more details.

All ceremonies are reserved for graduating students who are eligible to participate.  You are eligible to participate in June Commencement events if:

  • You completed all degree requirements and graduated in Fall 2022 or Winter 2023; or
  • You are declared to graduate in Spring 2023 or Summer 2023.

A Graduation Checklist is available to explain the process of graduating from UCLA and participating in commencement.

Tickets to the College Commencement Ceremony can be REQUESTED starting Thursday, May 4, 2023.  The request period ENDS on Sunday, May 7, 2023 (at 11:59 pm).  Eligible graduates can indicate their preference of times (11:00 am, 3:00 pm, or 7:00 pm) and request one FREE graduate ticket and up to four FREE guest tickets. Please note that children need their own ticket unless they can sit on their guardian’s lap for the duration of the ceremony.  No College Commencement ceremony tickets are sold, and there is no way to buy additional tickets.  You will receive the same priority for your ticket request if you submit it any time between May 4 and May 7 – there is no advantage to submitting your request on the first day when the request period begins.  Graduates are assigned to a ceremony according to their preference and through a lottery if too many graduates choose one of the events.  After you are assigned to your ceremony, you will receive a MyUCLA notice that will take you to your ceremony’s information.  The tickets are distributed ELECTRONICALLY at the end of May – please see more information below.

TICKET ORDERING for DEPARTMENT EVENTS begins on Friday, May 12, 2023, and it ends on Friday, May 26, 2023.  You can order up to four free departmental ceremony guest tickets and order additional guest tickets – if they are available – for a charge of $20 per additional guest ticket in excess of your four free guest tickets.  The charges will be sent to your BAR account at the end of May.

TICKET DISTRIBUTION takes place from Tuesday, May 30, 2023, through Thursday, June 15, 2023.  The Central Ticket Office (CTO) sends the tickets via email messages from cto@tickets.ucla.edu.  Their messages contain the links for you to receive your electronic tickets.  Please be sure to check that your email account is accurate in MyUCLA, and also check your email account’s SPAM folder frequently, to be sure you do not overlook these important messages.  For the College Commencement, you will receive two messages:  One with the link to receive your graduate ticket and the other with the link to receive your guest tickets.  You need BOTH messages, so look for both messages both in your email box and in your SPAM folder.  You will receive your department or professional school ceremony tickets in a separate set of email messages.

If you choose the 7:00 pm College Commencement Ceremony, there is a chance you will be able to receive a small number of additional guest tickets for that event through the waitlist.  The other two ceremonies (11:00 am and 3:00 pm) fill up, so additional guest tickets will NOT be available for those events.  On May 29, 2023, all waitlist ticket availability will be determined for both the departmental ceremonies and the College Commencement 7:00 pm ceremony.  Only the graduates receiving waitlist tickets will be notified.

SPECIAL INCLUSION PETITIONS

If you are a Fall 2023 degree candidate, you may submit a Special Inclusion via MyUCLA to request to be allowed to participate in the 2023 June College Commencement.

Other students may submit a petition online beginning May 1.  Please select your advising/counseling unit below to submit your petition. (Please note that you may check your Degree Audit to see your advising/counseling unit. If you select the wrong unit, your petition will not be processed.)

Please note that Fall graduates are automatically included in the commencement events in the June following their degree term.

The commencement you are eligible to attend is based on when you complete your degree, not on when you entered UCLA.  If you graduate early – for example, one year ahead of your entering cohort – you will only be invited to attend the ceremony during the June of the academic year when you completed your degree.  You can submit a Special Inclusion Petition to participate with your entering cohort; however, petitions to participate in another year are subject to availability.
