Academic Researchers (AR) – Additional Compensation & Teaching in Summer Sessions
One-time Payments /Honorariums – Academic Researchers are not eligible for one-time payments/honorariums.
Additional Compensation – Per the Notable Topics that was sent out on July 20, 2022, Campus APO communicated to put a pause on initiating additional compensation requests. Campus APO has confirmed that the additional compensation provision of APM-600 was not negotiated into the new AR contract, and thus represented academic researchers are not eligible for the 1/12th additional income.
Compensation for Teaching in Summer Sessions – If an AR requests to teach in summer sessions, a written request must be made (with PI’s endorsement) to reduce the AR’s percentage to accommodate summer teaching (not to exceed 100% total gross amount).
The written request and revised renewal form (detailing the reason for the percent adjustment and the summer session information (total compensation, etc.) in the comments section) must be submitted to the College Academic Researcher Analyst.
Academic Administrator & Academic Coordinator – Additional Compensation & Teaching in Summer Session
If a fiscal year Academic Administrator or Academic Coordinator requests to teach in summer sessions, it must be compensated as an additional compensation request (up to 1/12th additional income) and the equivalent vacation hours must be deducted.
- Note: There is no compensation when the Academic Administrator’s job description includes summer teaching as part of their normal job duties.
- Academic Coordinators cannot teach in this title.
The additional compensation request form (which is a Dean’s endorsement / VC final approval) must be submitted to the College Academic Researcher Analyst at least 2 months before the summer session appointment.
