Tutor Job Duties
Tutor students individually and in groups in a variety of subjects.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduate students hired as tutors must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 units during the quarter of appointment.
The hiring unit may grant exceptions to the minimum eligibility qualifications.
 

Academic Advancement Program (AAP)
•  AAP hires students to tutor in the following areas: Math/Science, Humanities and Social Sciences
•  70 projected positions
•  Applications are available in 1214 Campbell Hall.
•  Minimum Qualifications:
GPA in major field of 3.0 or above. Demonstrated interpersonal skills and cross-cultural sensitivity. For Humanities lab, also excellent writing skills.
 

AAP Graduate Mentor Program
•  The Graduate Mentor Program hires students to serve as research mentors (tutors) for graduate and professional school study.
•  5 projected positions
•  Applications are available in 1202 Campbell Hall.
•  Minimum Qualifications:
Currently enrolled graduate students. Demonstrated interpersonal skills and cross-cultural sensitivity.
 

Covel Tutorials
•  Covel Tutorials hires students to tutor in the following areas: Math/Science, Composition, and English as a Second Language (ESL)
•  60 projected positions
•  Applications are available in 228 Covel Commons
•  Minimum qualifications:
At least three quarters of residence at UCLA for composition tutors, five quarters for Math/Science tutors.
GPA of 3.4 or above.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and sensitivity to diversity and multiculturalism.
In addition, excellent writing skills for Composition and ESL tutors.
 

Athletic Tutorials
•  Athletics Tutorials hires students to tutor all undergraduate subject areas.
•  65 projected positions
•  Applications are available in 209 Covel Commons
•  Minimum qualifications:
Minimum GPA as determined by the Coordinator. Knowledge of specific courses.
 

Undergraduate Research Centers
•  The two undergraduate Research Centers hire graduate students to serve as research mentors (tutors) in Science, Engineering and Mathematics, and the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.
•  3 positions

  Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences - A334 Murphy Hall
•  Minimum qualifications:
Currently enrolled Ph.D. student in either Science, Engineering and Mathematics, or the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.
 

PEERS (Program for Excellence in Education and Research in the Sciences)
•  PEERS hires graduate students and post-docs in physics, math, and chemistry to lead (tutor) workshops in the introductory physics, math and chemistry courses.

•  Minimum qualifications:
BS or BA in Physics, Astronomy, Math and/or Chemistry preferred, Undergraduate Physics or Astronomy majors in their senior year may also be considered if they have experience in collaborative learning environments.
 

CEED (Center for Excellence in Engineering and Diversity)
•  CEED hires graduate and undergraduate students to serve as Academic Excellence Workshop Facilitators and Tutors for the math/science preparation classes as well as selected core engineering courses.
•  10-15 projected positions

•  Minimum Qualifications:
Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students. Engineering majors preferred. Math/Science majors also eligible.
 

Hourly Pay Rates 10/01/07
Tutors are paid hourly for hours assigned to work.
