Chancellor Block’s message to the community:

Serving as UCLA’s chancellor since 2007 has been the greatest honor of my life. And so it is with bittersweet feelings that I would like to share my decision to step down from the role at the end of the 2023-24 academic year. UCLA is a shining example of the best of public higher education, and I have every confidence that the university is well positioned for an exceptionally bright future…

“Bruins are nothing if not marked by optimism, and it is in our DNA to look at the world as one that is ripe for constant reshaping.”

  • Congratulations on a great tenure. Having worked with a number of presidents and universities, I can confirm that you’re the best I have known. So proud to be an alum. I have worked with over 500 CEOs of for profit companies and want you to know that being the Chancellor (or President) of a university is a much harder job. Bravo and thank you.
