program evaluation institute

The UCLA Center for Community Learning has established a community-based research institute on program evaluation that will be offered for the third time in Spring 2006.

Fifteen individuals from community based public health non-profits are invited to enroll in a service learning course (Honors 105) “Client-Based Program Evaluation”, taught by UCLA faculty. Fifteen UCLA undergraduate students will also take the class and work with the agency representatives to design and implement a program evaluation study for a current program operating in Los Angeles.

Students will learn how to:

  • Compare and contrast programs;

  • Collect information to make important decisions;

  • Study cost-effectiveness or efficiency;

  • Study the culture or ethnography of the program;

  • Compare current programs with current needs;

  • And much more…

  • For more information on becoming a community partner please contact the Center Director, Kathy O'Byrne.
