Building Foundations of Knowledge
General Education Requirements
As an undergraduate student at UCLA, you will take General Education courses as one of the requirements for your undergraduate degree.
The General Education Curriculum includes three subject areas called Foundations of Knowledge. The number of the Foundation courses you complete, as well as how they are distributed across the three Foundations, depends on which of the five major academic units is the home to your major: The College of Letters and Science; the School of Theater, Film, and Television; the Arts and Architecture, Engineering and Applied Science; or Nursing.
The table listed below shows the actual course and unit requirements for each College and School.
