Phi Beta Kappa Initiation Ceremony

The Phi Beta Kappa Society, founded in 1776, recognizes the highest level of scholarship and is the most prestigious and oldest academic national honors society in the United States. About 500 students – 7% of the senior class – are elected annually to Phi Beta Kappa at UCLA.

For information about the Society, visit www.pbk.org.

Visit the UCLA Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa web site (forthcoming) for information regarding the chapter and initiation ceremony.

The 2013 Initiation Ceremony for the UCLA Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa will be held on Thursday, June 13, 4:30 – 6:00 p.m., in Dickson Court North (Perloff Quad). From 3:00 – 4:00 p.m., students will assemble in location forthcoming.
Membership in Phi Beta Kappa

Students do not apply for membership in the Phi Beta Kappa Society. The Council of the UCLA Chapter, comprised of distinguished faculty and senior administrative officers, evaluate all student transcripts that meet the academic criteria and then choose the students to elect to Phi Beta Kappa.

Students who are elected to Phi Beta Kappa will be sent a MyUCLA notification. Students who accept election are invited to participate in the annual initiation ceremony.
